Website Downtime/ FatCow Review
dmezadmin | September 6, 2009I apologize for the unannounced downtime yesterday but everything’s been taken care of and the site is up and running again. Apparently, according to FatCow, the site was somehow using too much bandwidth on the unlimited bandwidth plan that I had subscribed to -_-…………….
It turns out that the site was using too much bandwidth and was affecting other sites on the network and because of that they had to suspend my account. How one goes over their bandwidth on an unlimited plan is beyond me but since their service is still reasonably priced I decided to keep it. For all I know GoDaddy and Bluhost’s unlimited plan might be exactly the same and I will just end up paying more for the same service.
Most of the traffic came from the downloads hosted on the server and I had to remove some files before they would reactivate my account. To prevent this problem from happening again, I am going to upload those files to my Megaupload account for all users to download. Those files should be up within a week and I apologize for any broken downloads. Unfortunately, since FatCow’s unlimited plan isn’t so unlimited after all, I have to update the DMEZ Good Karma Fund page as well.
