Zettai Kareshi is a pretty recent drama that came out in 2008. It’s mainly about a women named Izawa Riiko (Aibu Saki) and her relationship with a male robot that she named Tenjo Night (Hayami Mokomichi) that is programmed to only love her.

Other main characters include Namikiri Gaku (Sasaki Kuranosuke), Night’s creator, and Asamoto Soshi (Mizushima Hiro), Riiko’s boss. This drama was d-addicts’s Japanese Drama of the Week last week. The drama is about a man named Kita Yoshio (Kohinata Fumiyo) who decided to end his life in 11 days and it describes the events leading up until then.

This drama stars Yamashita Tomohisa from NEWS as Kurosaki (aka Kurosagi) and Horikita Maki as Yoshikawa Tsurara as the two main characters. Besides the two of them, each episode also had quite a few guest stars appearing in them.

Kurosaki’s family was destroyed at an early age by swindlers but yet he becomes a swindler himself when he gets older.The difference is that instead of swindling for the sole purpose of his personal gain, Kurosaki swindles other swindlers and tries to return the money to their rightful owner.

Later on Kurosaki meets Yoshikawa who is a young law student that doesn’t support Kurosaki’s actions regardless of the reason. Swindling is still a crime and Yoshikawa hopes that Kurosaki would stop.

This drama was pretty successful and a movie was released in 2008 about it. See how this story develops!

This drama came out near the end of 2007 and is definitely one of the best mystery dramas out there!

The two main characters in this drama are physicist professor Manabu Yukawa (Fukuyama Masaharu), aka Galileo, and police officer Utsumi Kaoru (Shibasaki Kou).

Professor Yukawa is popular with women in general but he is also eccentric and doesn’t have any real interest in anything that doesn’t involve physics. Since Yukawa is a genius professor, Utsumi is always trying to convince him to help her with her cases as he had helped her senior officer before her.

The drama has been a huge success since it aired and there has even been a special and movie that came out about it in 2008. People who like mystery dramas will definitely like this one.

2005 was definitely a good year for dramas! Dragon Zakura is about a laywer named Sakuragi Kenji (Abe Hiroshi) who plans to change the lives of 5 students for the better.

These students are from one of the lowest ranking schools in Japan who really don’t care much about their future. Kenji is planning to change the school’s image and make it a more desirable place to go to by producing 5 students who will get accepted in Tokyo University, Japan’s most prestigious.

Among the cast are Yamashita Tomohisa from the idol group NEWS and Nagasawa Masami. Watch to find out what happens!

This is technically a movie and not a drama series but I’m gonna make it available anyway! This movie includes Horikita Maki as well a few other pretty well known actors and actresses. Another great drama  that came out in 2005! Based on the best selling book of the same name Densha Otoko is about an otaku named Yamada Tsuyoshi (Itoh Atsushi) who saved a pretty lady named Aoyama Saori (Itoh Misaki) on the train from a groper.

After the event, Saori asked Tsuyoshi for his adress so she could send him a gift in appreciation for what he had done. Saori sent him a pair or expensive Hermes tea cups and Tsuyoshi thought that it was a little too much just to say thank you and figures there is a deeper meaning behind it.

Despite him being an otaku Tsuyoshi decided to call Saori and ask her out on a date and was estatic to hear her say yes. The problem is Tsuyoshi never had any experience with women before and was unsure of what to do. Clueless as he was he turned to his friends on 2channel for help. How will this relationship turn out? Tune in to find out!

Nobuta wo Produce is one of my favorite Jdramas of all time. The drama revolves around 3 main characters who are, Shuji Kiritani (Kazuya Kamenashi),  Akira Kusano (Tomohisa Yamashita), and Nobuko Kotani (Maki Horikita) aka Nobuta.

Shuji is one of the most popular kids in school and gets along with just about everyone but he kind of has a dual personality. Akira is one person that Shuji doesn’t really get along with but also doesn’t really hate and he’s a person who’s sometime oblivious to the things around him. Nobuta is a new transfer student who moved around a lot when she was little and is often picked on a lot by other students.

The main objective of this drama is for Shuji and Akira to turn Nobuta into the most popular girl in school. Can they do it? Watch and find out!
